Introduction

Romania has been a member of the GFCM since the 19th of February 1971. The country is party to the UN Law of the Sea Convention (17 December 1996) and the UN Fish Stock Agreement of 1995 (16 July 2007). Romania has not even ratified the FAO Compliance Agreement of 1993 and also the FAO Port State Measures Agreement of 2009.


FISHERIES

In general, fisheries is under the EU legislations (Common Fisheries Policy, CFP) Council Regulation (EU) 2015/106 of 19 January 2015 fixing for 2015 the fishing opportunities for certain fish stocks and groups of fish stocks in the Black Sea

  • Order no. 48 of 11 March 2011 on the approval of measures to regulate fishing effort and fishing shares for 2011, by species and areas
  • Order no. 44 of 20 April 2011 on fisheries in natural fish habitats
  • Order No.7 of 28 January 2010 approving the Regulations on access to living aquatic resources in the public domain in the practice of commercial fishing in natural fish habitats
