Introduction
Slovenia has been a member of the GFCM since the 25th of May 2000. The country is party to the UN Law of the Sea Convention (15 June 1995) and the UN UN Fish Stock Agreement of 1995 (15 June 2006). Slovenia has not ratified the FAO Compliance Agreement of 1993 and also the FAO Port State Measures Agreement of 2009.

  • Marine Fisheries Act, ZMR-2 (Article 32).
    Minimum sizes

    • The Decree on protected wild animal species (Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia No 46/2004, 109/2004, 84/2005, 115/2007, 96/2008 and 36/2009) contains provisions concerning protected wild animal species, including marine organisms (Decree within the remit of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, while the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food is competent for the management of fisheries as well as fisheries inspection service).

    Sanctions

    The Inspectorate for Agriculture, Forestry and Food, Hunting and Fisheries Inspection is responsible to carry out inspections. The Slovenian Maritime Administration supervises the implementation of the regulations, including the regime of navigation in ports and in other parts of coastal waters. It also performs other tasks related to ensure the safety of navigation and control of the state of the coasts, ports, devices and facilities for safety navigation.
